Easter: Resurrection

Why is the resurrection of Jesus Christ so important?

Here, take a look at these verses that Paul wrote to the Corinthians:

 Corinthians 15:12-20a
12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. 15 We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in Christ we have hope[b] in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.
20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead,

The resurrection of Jesus, is the pivitol point of the Christian faith. My Faith. If Jesus hasn’t been raised from the dead, as Christians, we are lying about God, we don’t have any hope and no one has forgiveness of sin.

But Jesus has been raised from the dead. How do we know this? From the gospels, where there is first had eye witness of seeing Jesus.

Matthew 28

Mark 16

Luke 24

John 20

Each records for us the Sunday morning of Jesus resurrection.

The Roman soldiers who fell as dead men when the angel came and rolled back the stone.

Mary, who thought Jesus was the gardener.

The two going to Emmaus, who walked with Jesus and didn’t recognize him. Who asked him into dinner before they recognized him.

The disciples, who had locked themselves in a room because they feared they were going to be arrested and executed too.

Thomas, who after seeing Jesus believed.

There are others who saw Jesus and those are recorded in Acts and some of Paul’s letters.

Jesus went to the cross to die for our sins, he was buried and rose again on the third day, just as he said. He rose, conquering sin, death, and the grave once for all.

During this isolation time, this is the good news that we need to hear.

Jesus has RISEN!!!
